2014 Aston Martin Vanquish

2014 Aston Martin Vanquish

To describe an Aston Martin, one uses words like beauty, perfection, exquisite and the list goes on. That sense of marvelous spender doesn’t stop with the new 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish. When you think of design the British automakers only clear rival is that of itself. This new Vanquish comes draped in a full carbon fiber body and heals all wounds from that hideous suv/tourer concept debacle the Lagonda (covered in a previous article).

The new Vanquish sits aloft in the gen 4 VH aluminum chassis platform (One-77 architecture) which interns makes it 25 percent stiffer than a DBS. Still packing a potent 5.9 liter V12 the bellows out an astonishing 565HP and 457lb-ft of torque, paired to Astons Martins own Touchtronic six speed paddle shift transmission. With a new launch control system the Vanquish will yoke the 0-60 time at 4.1 seconds off to a top speed of 183mph. Sure it’s not the quickest GT car around but you won’t look as good doing it, that’s got to account for something in my book.

There are touches of the One -77 everywhere on the new Vanquish from the tail lights to the steering wheel. The interior is exactly what you would expect from Aston Martin from the outboard handbrake, the counter-rotating tachometer and the button-based transmission selector. The most significant change is there is more legroom and interior space overall than the before. The center console has some new effects and in Aston Martin fashion is leather wrapped, backlit and equipped with capacitive touch crystal buttons, giving you a subtle haptic sensation through your finger tip will pressing a button. Also new is the Infotainment console with the power folding screen like previous models , although it’s not the best unit around (a Garmin-based unit, and the 6.5-inch screen) it’s better that the old unit and that rings true when utilizing the navigation system, still feels a little bit old and dated though. It is also stuffed to the gills with a 13 speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and that makes up for the center console when listen to the tunes. One thing I do miss is the glove box, there is none in the Vanquish. You can pick up a 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish for of $282,820.
