2016 Ford Focus RS Spied

2016 Ford Focus RS Spied

Some spy photos and a few crumbs of specs are floating around for the new 2016 Ford Focus RS. While be looking at the photos, this is obviously a test mule based off the current Focus ST, there are few teasers that this is the hot hatch Focus RS in sheep’s clothes.

First as you can see this Focus is packing heavy camo on the front fascia reconfigured for duty on the RS. The dead giveaway is the significantly larger grilles. This is also an indication that the 2.3-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder that’s destined for the 2015 Ford Mustang will run double duty in the Focus RS. When you take that into account, expect to see figures around 300HP and 300lb-ft of torque. It’s also entirely possible that the production model could produce even higher numbers at around 330HP.

The rear has also gone under the knife with a modified rear bumper and a pair of exhaust tips unlike the current Focus ST’s center-exit exhaust. Other obvious changes include the rolling stock and brake package on this particular car seen in the photo. It appears to have larger 19-inch wheels and the brakes look as though they are four-piston calipers, hopefully Brembo in the front. The one thing that still remains an open question for discussion, is if it will utilize the all-wheel drive drivetrain in the Focus RS platform. So far we will have to wait and see as more info and details come trickling in and on that note we’ll keep you updated…….so stay tuned for more details.
