Mitsubishi 3000GT, Possible Return

Mitsubishi 3000GT

With the rally scene all abuzz about the end of an era due to the untimely termination of the Lancer Evolution, it seems as if Mitsubishi may green light a new 3000GT. Auto Express reported that when they spoke to Mitsubishi Motors UK managing director Lance Bradly, the company was invested in making a performance coupe, which would be smaller than the outgoing Evo. The Vehicle in question would be based on the ASX crossover platform (Outlander Sport in US market) utilizing an AWD setup with hybrid technology like the Outlander PHEV. This all coincides with Mitsubishi reporting the end of production with the rally based wonder car and the fact that the Japanese automaker is pushing for a greener vehicle selection, it’s very hard not to believe.

In its hay day in the 90’s…that’s 1990’s the Mitsubishi 3000GT was at the height of technology for its time with key features like a twin turbo 3.0 liter V6, all wheel drive (AWD), four wheel steering, driver select adjustable shocks to name a few. Nowadays many of the 3000GT’s features are common in current vehicles around the automotive industry, so if rumors are to unfold as true, the next iteration of the 3000GT may be just as technological as its predecessor. We’ll keep an ear to the ground for further information on this as the story continues to develop.
